CBC News
A WestJet flight from Vancouver to Toronto, which made an emergency landing in Northern Ontario on Saturday afternoon after a man became agitated and allegedly uttered statements about a possible bomb, has been cleared and is now back in the air.
Flight 644 landed in Thunder Bay shortly after 5 p.m. ET.
No bomb was found and the Boeing 737 aircraft was cleared to resume its trip to Toronto. While some passengers opted for an earlier flight Sunday to Toronto, others took the same plane, which left around 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
On Saturday, all 118 passengers were escorted off the plane so it could be combed by an Ontario Provincial Police explosives squad. Their luggage was also checked, a statement from Thunder Bay police said
The 27-year-old man, who had been restrained by the plane's flight crew, was arrested by Thunder Bay police after the plane landed and taken to hospital for a medical exam. Police said he is a Portuguese citizen and has a history of mental illness. No charges will be laid.
Police say once he has been cleared medically, he will be allowed to return to Portugal.
