Two cars found in Lake Ontario, at least one stolen
Toronto Police discovered two cars in Lake Ontario near Jarvis St. and Queens Quay E. on Tuesday around 6 a.m.
With the help of a tow line, two crusty and rusted cars were pulled out of the water.
“The cars have been underwater for quite awhile. At least one them was stolen,” said Staff Sgt. Tony Remy. The cars were discovered by police divers during training. “It’s a routine exercise that divers do when they’re training. Stolen cars get dumped in the lake every once in awhile. When they happen upon these things, we got to get the cars out,” said Remy.
Both cars, a Mercedes SUV and a Ford Taurus, were unoccupied at the time of discovery.
