Toronto transit ticket collector shot in station

A Toronto transit ticket collector suffered life-threatening injuries when he was shot in Dupont station in downtown Toronto on Sunday evening.
Police say the man was believed to have been shot in the neck or shoulder around 7:20 p.m.
The employee was rushed to hospital. There is no word on his condition.
Police are reviewing surveillance video from the scene of the shooting.
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) has confirmed that the shooting occurred during a robbery attempt.
A TTC spokesperson told CBC News it is not yet clear whether the employee was behind the glass when he was shot.
Andy Byford, the TTC’s chief operating officer, said the employee was an experienced collector who was in his mid-50s.
“Obviously, I’m shocked by what has happened tonight,” Byford told reporters late Sunday evening.
“Staff security is our top priority, along with customer security.”
Byford said the TTC would meet on Monday morning to review its security procedures.
“I will not have people attacking my staff,” said Byford.
