Toronto breaks rainfall record
A powerful downpour shattered Toronto’s 31-year-old precipitation record on Tuesday and had windshield wipers working overtime on city streets and highways.
About 35 millimetres of rain was recorded at Pearson International Airport by 2 p.m., breaking the record for Sept. 4 set in 1981.
Another 20 to 30 millimetres could fall throughout the evening, Environment Canada said.
