The Perfect Bite Canada
Where should you go when you feel a burger craving coming on? We courageously sampled burgers of all types to compile this list. It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it. Check out this roundup for our picks for Canada's top fast-food-chain hamburgers.
All prices are approximate.
If you love: Classic
Try: McDonald's Quarter Pounder with Cheese
This patty is meaty tasting, slightly salty and juicy. It's surrounded by melted cheese slices and topped with the classics: mayo, heavy on the ketchup, tomato and pickle (but you knew that already, right?). The bun is thin but tasty and topped with lots of sesame seeds. Yum!
Cost: $4.30
If you love: Beefy
Try: Harvey's Great Canadian
This thick and moist Angus beef burger looks homemade. It's even topped with real, block-style cheddar rather than the more commonly-used processed cheese slices. We loved that you can select your toppings as the burger is assembled and that it's in a soft bun that looks like a ciabatta.
Cost: $6.00
If you love: Meatless
Try: Harvey's Veggie Burger
Meat lovers prepare to be fooled! This vegetarian burger looks just like a meaty hamburger and it tastes pretty darn close to one too when it's loaded up with fresh toppings. We were also pleased to find that it comes with the option of a whole wheat bun. But we do recommend that you order it with cheese or it may feel like something's missing.
Cost: $ 4.50
If you love: Bacon
Try: Wendy's Bacon Deluxe Single
This average-sized patty is juicy, but the toppings are really the highlight. Thick, slightly crisp bacon, fresh-tasting tomatoes, thinly sliced red onion and crunchy pickles make this burger special. It's all sandwiched between a soft, fresh white bun. For something smaller, try Wendy's JBC (JR. BACON CHEESEBURGER), which gives you a mini cheesy bacon taste at less than half the price of the Deluxe.
Cost: $4.90
If you love: Simple
Try: A&W Teen Burger
This burger has the perfect amount of each ingredient — crispy thick bacon, cheese-topped chargrilled patty, a moderate amount of classic toppings and a soft bun that doesn't overwhelm.
Cost: $4.80
