Richest Canadians list shows fortunes decreasing
The canadian Press- It seems that some of Canada's rich, haven't been getting richer lately.
Canadian Business magazine says many of the country's wealthiest people have seen their fortunes shrink this past year.
Toronto's Thomson family, who've topped the top-100 list for years, saw their massive wealth shrink an estimated 8.7 per cent to $21.34 billion.
Also a little worse off this year is supermarket magnate Galen Weston — though still not struggling to keep food on the table.
He's second on the list with $8 billion — down 5.8 per cent from last year.
The Irving family of Saint John, New Brunswick comes in third with $7.8 billion — up 4.5 per cent from 2010.
The Rogers family is fourth with $5.94 billion — down 1.3 per cent.
Vancouver's Jim Pattison is next at $5.73 billion — up 3.7 per cent.
Then it's the Saputo family of Montreal with $4.34 billion — up a whopping 23.5 per cent in just one year.
