Day 3 at the Sochi Games
It was a good start to the day for Canada on Day 3, as short-track speed skater Charles Hamelin of Sainte-Julie, Que., won gold in the 1,500 metres.
Monday saw two other Quebec athletes, Alex Bilodeau and Mikael Kingsbury, compete in the freestyle men’s moguls. The final in this event is at 9 a.m.
In Vancouver, Bilodeau won the first Canadian gold medal ever on home turf after Canada missed out in the gold-medal category in Montreal in 1976 and Calgary in 1988.
On the ice, the Canadian women’s hockey team plays Finland at 10 a.m. and the Canadian men’s curlers play Switzerland, also at 10 a.m. Metro
