Brutal Toronto home invasion shakes family
CBC News
A Toronto family was terrorized by a brutal home invasion early Tuesday morning, police say.
A "number of suspects" broke into a house on Brewster Crescent, near Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue in the city's northwest, around 3 a.m. and assaulted several people before restraining them and robbing the home, Staff Sgt. Frank Barredo said.
The assailants had a "number of weapons," Barredo said, but he did not specify whether guns were in their arsenal.
One of the victims escaped the restraints and headed to a neighbour's house to call 911 at around 5:45 a.m.
Six people in the detached two-storey home were injured in the incident, four of whom were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Barredo said.
The house is a modern, double-garage construction with a landscaped front yard on a tree-lined street of mostly bungalows.
Police didn't say what the assailants were after or why the home was targeted.
