TORONTO, Ont. - Toronto and the GTA are bracing for yet another possible heat wave.
The City of Toronto's medical officer of health has issued a heat alert for Toronto, Thursday. It will be in effect until further notice.
The forecast for Thursday calls for a sun-cloud mix, with a high of 32 C and a humidex near 38.
During a heat alert, people can visit one of several air-conditioned public places across the city.
The city encourages people to call or visit family, friends and neighbours, especially isolated adults and seniors who are at greater risk of suffering from heat-related illness, to make sure they are okay.
People are also advised to never leave seniors, children or pets unattended in a car.
Environment Canada said the most intense heat is expected, Thursday, warning of "oven-like conditions."
"There is a possibility of a heat wave -- three or more consecutive days of temperature at 32 C or warmer. Certainly looking at that for today, tomorrow and for Saturday. It will be very hot indeed,y.
