Amanda Knox and ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito re-convicted for Kercher murder
A court in Italy has found Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito guilty of murdering Meredith Kercher for a second time.
Knox – who is in the US – was sentenced to 28 years and six months in jail for her part in the killing of the British student. Kercher, who shared a flat with Knox, was found with her throat cut in 2007.
Sollecito, Knox’s Italian boyfriend at the time, received 25 years in prison. He was in the court in Florence to hear the verdict.
The decision overturns the 2011 appeal ruling to acquit the pair, reinstating the original 2009 judgement.
Knox is expected to fight any move to extradite her from the US.
