More Information:
Rob Kapilow is back with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra to guide the audience through another classic masterwork in What Makes It Great: Beethoven, a look at Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. This evening at Roy Thomson Hall includes an analysis of the composition by Kapilow, followed by a live performance. The Violin Concerto had its premiere in Vienna in 1806 to a poor response, but was revived by Felix Mendelssohn’s orchestra in 1844, years after Beethoven’s death, and has become one of the world’s most renowned violin works. The TSO’s performance of the Concerto includes a solo by Concertmaster Jonathan Crow.
