In January the Toronto International Boat Show comes to the Direct Energy Centre, where attendees can buy or peruse the wide selection of boats on offer. Exhibitors sell every kind of boat from kayaks and canoes to racing boats and houseboats. Several exhibitors also offer boating supplies and related products.
Special guests appearing at the show include King Crabber and Deadliest Catch reality TV star Russell Newberry and America’s First Couple of Cruising, Lin and Larry Pardey.
In 2014, the world’s largest indoor lake returns to the Ricoh Coliseum as part of the show. Visitors can practice canoeing and kayaking for free or sit on the shore and watch the wakeboarding demonstrations. Other highlights for this year include the new Canadian Canoe Museum, Duma the wakeboarding, boat-driving wonder dog, and special fishing and boat riding areas for kids.
