More Information:
The Toronto Design Offsite Festival features over 50 projects by Canadian artists and designers such as workshops, films, lectures, window installations and exhibitions. In Design by Nature: A Creative Re-Use of Salvaged Materials, designers have to work with at least 50% recycled supplies and are awarded for creativity in the categories of furniture and sculpture. In String Theory patternpattern, find scarves and shawls inspired by one of the physical sciences’ most debated theoretical frameworks. Institute Without Boundaries: Gateway Cities Project maps the formal and metaphorical links between Toronto, Chicago and New York, while PechaKucha Night Toronto Vol. 28 maps the links between strangers as they speak about a 20-image slide show over exactly six minutes and 40 seconds. Other noteworthy events include the screening of Eames: The Architect and the Painter narrated by James Franco, and Tables, Chairs and Other Unrelated Objects, about the role of furniture in human life and The Gladstone’s popular Come Up To My Room.
