More Information:
During the Weekend to End Women's Cancers in September, thousands of men and women unite to walk 60 km over two days or 30 km in one day, to fight all women's cancers, including cervical, endometrial and ovarian cancers, as well as breast cancer and participants can specify which cancer their donation money fights.
On Saturday, the 30 km walk follows an opening ceremony at sunrise to commemorate loved ones lost to cancer. Afterward, at camp, participants who are walking both days get a massage, medical attention if needed, a shower, a hot meal, entertainment and a camp-out. On Sunday, the second half of the walk takes place after breakfast. At the finish lines, participants are awaited by family, friends and a cheering crowd. Finally, a closing ceremony caps the weekend off by honouring the walkers.
In addition to paying the registration fee of $75, one-day walkers must raise a minimum of $1250 to take place in the 30 km walk, while two-day walkers must raise $2000 to participate in the 60 km walk.
