More Information:
The National Ballet of Canada performs the classic ballet Swan Lake. Set to the timeless score by Tchaikovsky, the ballet made it’s debut in 1877 in Moscow. Its fairy-tale story is accompanied by a dark thematic tone and is rooted in universal human emotion. Swan Lake is one of the most recognizable ballets in the world. The ballet tells the story of an enchanted Swan Queen, Odette, cursed by an evil sorcerer with a spell that can only be broken by true love. On the eve of his 21st birthday, Prince Siegfried comes across a lake filled with swans, one of which transforms into the beautiful Odette. She tells him the evil sorcerer, Von Rothbart, has turned her and other girls into swans and the only way to break the spell is for him to profess his undying love for her. As the Prince is about to do this, he is interrupted by Von Rothbart who kidnaps Odette. The Prince must figure out a way to get her back before she is turned into a swan forever.
