More Information:
"Kuumba" – the Swahili word for “creativity” – has become synonymous with showcasing the best local, national and international artists of African heritage at Harbourfront Centre during Black History Month. This year, Kuumba celebrates milestones, anniversaries and the outstanding contributions of Black Canadians. Our youth are the future and we would like to honour the achievements of the young people who are making positive changes in the diasporas and those who inspire creativity.
All Kuumba events celebrate the vitality of Toronto's African and Caribbean communities, showcasing works by emerging and innovative Canadian and international artists. The big idea within the three days of celebrating kuumba is rewind, looking back into past traditions and history of Black culture and also pressing forward to the future by engaging our artists, youth and leaders of tomorrow while paying tribute to today's established leaders.
