Doors Open Toronto offers residents and visitors an opportunity to take a peek behind the doors of more than 100 architecturally, historically, culturally, and socially significant buildings across the city.
Visitors can enjoy the unmistakably contemporary design of architect Fumihiko Maki, who incorporates historical elements originating in Islamic cultures. Free access to the Museum’s Atrium, Courtyard, Auditorium, and Bellerive Room is offered throughout the weekend. Free programming includes: family activities in the Education Centre, architecturally-inspired tours, 2 pm lectures, and Pop-Up Performances animating unique spaces. For half-price admission, visitors can explore the Museum collections gallery and two special exhibitions (Marvellous Creatures and A City Transformed: Images of Istanbul Then and Now), where they will discover connections between cultures from the 7th to 21st centuries.
