More Information:
Demis Roussos, Artemios (Demis) Ventouris Roussos, the Great Greek Singer, was actually born in Egypt from ethnic Greek parents and raised in Alexandria, where he was influenced by the sound of Arabic music. Although he played trumpet as a youngster, once Demis picked up the guitar he was hooked. His voice is legend but he is also known for playing the guitar and bass guitar, beginning with The Idols and then progressive rock band Aphrodite's Child. Demis distinctive operatic vocal style helped propel the band to international success, notably on their final album 666, which became something of a cult classic.
Little known fact: Demis was one of the passengers on TWA Flight 847 that was hijacked on June 14, 1985. Famously the hijackers even celebrated his birthday with him as they were impressed by having taken as a hostage a man who was a big celebrity in Europe. He was eventually released along with seven others in exchange for the release of Ali Atwa.~Wikipedia
His most recent release the rock soul album Demis is a compilation of blues and soul dating back to his days playing with the band Aphrodite's Child. Listen to Souvenirs and become familiar with this extraordinary voice, if you are not already. Demis has been a recording star for a lifetime but his resurgence is NOW.
Don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to enjoy the legendary voice of Demis Roussos at Sony Centre on October 29th.
