More Information:
The exhibition explores the designed environment through graffiti. The photographic constructions are made from materials such as fake grass, clay and plastic garbage bags. The site-specific installations depict silhouettes of shaped women inspired by the carefully choreographed work of Busby Berkeley. The work playfully pairs the idealized manicured women in natural and altered environments to underline the convergence between man and environment. The shaped women function as elements of design and “soft” graffiti that alter the spaces. The images are constructed along various urban waterways and green spaces taking into consideration the architecture and design of the existing environment. The photographs are presented as products that document human interactions with space and the drive to leave a mark.
