More Information:
Celebrate the arrival of spring by experiencing the sights and sounds of amorous male toads in search of that special someone! Our annual wetland festival is scheduled around the explosive breeding ritual of American toads at our very own Americas Wetlands Outdoor Exhibit. Although the emergence and courtship of toads is the main event, there are heaps of other fun activities for children and adults alike, including: face painting, froggy games like "Fish for a Prize," Toady the Mascot, lessons on tracking wildlife using GPS technology, and information on how to become a Frog Watcher or Turtle Detective. It's "toad-ally" fun for the whole family! Visit www.torontozoo.com/adoptapond or call Julia at 416-392-5999 to find out more!

Send them in to us: Adopt-A-Pond 361A Old Finch Ave. Scarborough, ON M1B 5K7 The 2011 Field Season has Wrapped Up Over this past summer we have been very busy with stewardship projects and reptile research in Ontario. Our HWY 24 project near Brantford has finsihed up, one of the turtles used the culvert to cross the road 29 times! We built nesting beaches on 2 properties with landowners near this research site as well. Nesting beaches were also created as part of our new Healthy Water- Healthy Wildlife program. This program reaches waterfront property owners and helps them undertake stewardship actions to improve water quality and wildlife habitat. Closer to home, in the Rouge Valley, we mapped and assessed our local wetlands to determine how much high quality turtle habitat is located in the valley.
Just Add Water
Just Add Water is a national campaign in the U.K. to encourage the public to dig wildlife ponds in urban areas. Visit the website here for a practical guide to building wetlands in your own backyard.
