The Community Folk Art Council ofToronto, a non-for-profit organization, is proud to present the 6th Annual Multicultural Canada Day Celebration at Yonge Dundas Square.
Opening Ceremonies 12pm - With singing of O'Canada, followed by First Nations dance and then many other international Dance Groups performing through till 9pm.
We will be showcasing many ethnically diverse dance groups that will present 30-minute ethnic folk dance performances on the main stage. The Community Folk Art Council, for some 40 years is the acknowledged leader in promoting the traditional arts in Toronto. The Main Stage performances start at 12:15pm with groups from Europe, Canada, South and Central America, Asia, and South East Asia.
This festival will be showcasing multicultural folkdance, arts and craft, foods and traditions. This festival features different cultures and ethnic groups that make Toronto a great place to live. At this event you will be able enjoy the performing arts, visual arts, crafts, dancing, information and foods representing cultures from around the globe that have made Canada, and Toronto their new home.
This Multicultural Canada Day Celebration serves as a catalyst and is a means of creating awareness that a learning concept exists. Our Celebration will showcase Folklore. This celebration will feature the many cultures and ethnic groups that makes Toronto a great place to live.
At this Canada Day celebration you will be able enjoy the performing arts, visual arts, crafts, dancing, information and foods representing cultures from around the globe. With special events just for kids, it's great (free) family entertainment!
Community Folk Art Council of Toronto ( CFAC) member groups will take part in the an artisans market, displaying and selling their ethnic folk Art crafts and foods from around the world, for income to support their own non-for-profit communities. The International Arts and Crafts Village will be an area of the site will be designated as International Arts and Crafts Village, where local artisans, our CFAC members will be to displaying, demonstrating and selling their multicultural art and crafts. Food from around the world will also be available here-with lots on display and for sale.
CFAC is a not-for-profit, charitable organization, funded partially by the Toronto Arts Council, Social Development Canada and the City of Toronto, presents the heritage of over 100 nationalities found in Toronto. In coalition with its 91 member groups, CFAC showcases international traditions through events like Canada Day celebrations, Christmas and Easter Around the World, First Night and Taste of Toronto. The council also brings groups from other nations to perform in Toronto, and sends its own member groups to perform in places as far away as Taiwan. Through its activities, the council helps to bring about a higher profile for the heritage arts in the greater Toronto area.
